Minutes of the Princeton Historical Commission
May 19, 2011
Town Hall Annex, 7 PM

Attendees: Joyce Anderson, Sheila Dubman, Joe Lee, Matt Lindberg and Alex Fiandaca

Members approved the minutes from the last meeting, April 14th, 2011.
Members re-elected Sheila as Chair and Alex as Vice Chair.

Wachusett Mountain
Joyce met with Harriet Chandler, Joe O’Brien, David and Jeff Crowley on April 25th.  A resolution was reached to add an amendment to the nomination that defines the ski area as non-contributing.  It was noted that most of the ski trails have already been described as non-contributing and that two of the original trails were substantially altered in 1982.  Features such as Bullock Lodge and Balance Rock would remain contributing.
A subsequent meeting was held on Tuesday, May 17th with Joyce, Harriet Chandler, Joe O’Brien, Kim Ferguson and Assistant Massachusetts Secretary of State, Michael Maresco in an effort to gain a higher level of state support for the nomination.  It was noted that Governor Patrick supports the nomination.  The nomination is scheduled for MHC’s June meeting.

Meetinghouse Cemetery
Sheila recently contacted John Lebeaux regarding the inmate workshop. (Alex relayed questions to Sheila regarding lunchtime transportation and rain date availability.  John confirmed that transportation will be provided but needed proposed dates before committing to rain date availability.  Alex proposed some dates based on Ta Mara’s preference for July or August and Sheila is awaiting a response.)  Members suggested September versus July to avoid the worst of the summer heat. Alex will check with Ta Mara regarding her availability in September and then confer with Joe (Joe and Alex will participate in both days of the workshop). Sheila will then propose the preferred dates to John.  Once firmer dates have been established the Commission will touch base with the Cemetery Commission.

House File
Bud Brooks has put the house file into pdf format on the Historical Society’s website.  Six streets are available for viewing.  They are listed alphabetically and include Allen Hill Road through Boylston Ave.

Boylston Manor
Previously Joyce let the owners of 73 and 83 Worcester Road know that their houses may be eligible for listing in the National Register.  She will follow-up with them at a later time.

Everettville
Joyce and Sheila will plan to meet in June with Betsey Hanula of the Westminster Historical Commission to see what resources they have that might help establish the boundaries of Everettville.

Next Meeting:  June 16th, Town Hall Annex, 7PM
Respectfully submitted, Alex Fiandaca
